Tinea cruris
Jock itch
Fungal infection of the groin caused by
friction and sweating. Symptoms include a red, itchy, scaly rash that can
spread from the groin to the genitals, inner thighs, buttocks, and anus.
Interventions:
1. Investigation and treatment of its cause.
2. Gently wash the skin with a cleanser with a normal pH (Zitan
Cleansing Foam).
3. Issues to be managed:
• You may need to use a topical antifungal.
• If the patient is incontinent, protective
cream with antifungal properties should be used.
• For skin folds, use
Zitan cream to eliminate friction, control moisture, and bacterial or fungal
bioburden.
